Persian Poetry
The Persian language has endured for more than a millennium in
its present form. The main reason for this is its rich literature,
particularly poetry, which occupies an important place in the
heart and minds of Iranians. Poetry has played a central role
in Iranian culture and is still an integral part of it. People
use it in their everyday lives, conversation, and even in music.
According to many scholars, poetry is considered as an ancient
art, older than print, older than paint, and older than writing.
Mahmud Kianush...
from the outset separated himself from the overwhelming tendency
of the time, towards politicised poetry. Even so, his insight
into political matters led him to a philosophical understanding
of events. His images, while inspired by what was happening in
his society and elsewhere in the world, remain timeless, to imply
the more general efforts of man to understand life and nature,
his wonderings, successes and follies.
An Invitation to Poetry
"I have come to you. Let us repeat part of the journey of
life together. This time only stopping at the passages of those
moments which were going to reveal to us their wonders of poetry
, but we passed them by, preoccupied.
These poems are glimpses of the revelations of those eternal
moment." |
