He stands
Behind the pupil of my eyes,
Calm and confident;
He is with me
Wherever I am,
And follows me
Wherever I go.
With my best intentions
He finds faults,
And in my fairest deeds
Injustice.
Though unknown and immaterial,
He wants to be
The image of my real self
Always and entirely
hidden
from the world.
