TRANSFORMATION

It wagged its tail,
And began to rub its muzzle
On my feet;
It seemed that it took pride
In the abasement of servility.

“O Dog,” I said,
“Why you did not remain a wolf?”

It did not respond
To my scornful kick.
It stayed in front of my feet
And moaned with resignation.
